The exhaust system on your vehicle has three main functions.
1. It transfers
poisonous exhaust gases from the engine to the rear of the vehicle.
2. It quietens the sound of the engine while running.
3. It converts unspent fuel into spent fuel.
The main exhaust system components are: Exhaust manifold, Exhaust
pipe, Catalytic converter, silencer, tail pipe, EGR valve, NOX & O2 sensor/s.
Exhaust system components commonly
fail due to corrosion over time. Although the catalytic converter (one of the most expensive parts in the exhaust system)
can be easily damaged if the engine is not running efficiently due to common engine management faults, such as faulty oxygen
sensor/s or engine misfire etc.
